A Sign From God

Eric "Roscoe" Ambel has always been one of my house gods since his time in Del Lords. "The Lords" was a brilliant roots rock'n'roll band that between 1984 and 2013 had time with five exquisites studio album and an explosive live EP without getting the recognition in the broad ranks that they were worth.

After D.L. threw in the towel in 2014, New York based Ambel has worked with and produced a number of bands & artists such as Nils Lofgren, The Brandos, Steve Earle, The Yayhoos, Del Lords, The Bottle Rockets, Joan Jett, Mojo Nixon, Blood Oranges, Blue Mountain, Freedy Johnston and Mary Lee's Corvette.

So when good friend John "Chico" Finn decided to record album number five with his band Esquela, "Roscoe" was a low-stakes producer. A certain pandemic contributed to it and everything had to be shaped & created remotely. The result was 10 personal, down-to-earth & classic roots rockers who are colored by thoughts about the Coronan, racism, sexual abuse and the climate crisis.

Classic, roots rock with a warm heart & sharp brain.
