Esquela made it all the way to the top, winning the finals of the Playoffs at the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in Cleveland. Over 200 bands from the U.S. and other countries entered the competition. Esquela won the regional competition in Nashville in the spring and was honored to be asked to come to the finals at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They had no idea that they would come out on top of seven other talented bands from across the country.
It was a rainy and windy night at the hall in Cleveland on Saturday. Chico put on his Nudie suit and the band took the stage as the rain poured on the angled glass walls and ceiling of the hall. The band gave it their all and were still taking in the experience of playing at a museum surrounded by exhibits honoring their rock inspirations when the judges completed a long deliberation. When they announced the first place winner the band along with their friends and family watching from home were all in shock.
It was an awesome experience for the band and a great way to cap off the summer.
